Remove

  1. Open the LH front door and fully lower the LH front window.
  2. Move the driver seat fully rearward.
  3. Raise and support the vehicle. See .
  4. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the HEPA filter assembly. See .
  6. Disconnect 12V power. See 12V/LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  7. Release the locking tab, and then disconnect the brake fluid reservoir electrical connector.

  8. Release the locking tab, and then disconnect the harness connectors from the brake booster assembly.

  9. Place an absorbent material beneath the brake booster and reservoir area.
  10. Clean the area around the brake fluid reservoir, then remove the reservoir cap.
  11. Using a brake fluid syringe, remove the brake fluid from the reservoir.
  12. Disconnect the forward brake line from the master cylinder.

  13. Disconnect the rear brake line from the master cylinder.

  14. Remove the driver knee airbag. See .
  15. Remove the LH footwell air duct. See .
  16. Disconnect the brake switch electrical connector.
  17. Remove the brake switch from the pedal assembly.

    Rotate the switch 45 degrees to remove it from the assembly.

    Replace if damaged during removal.
  18. Remove the cotter clip from the clevis pin on the brake pedal assembly.
  19. Remove the clevis pin from the brake pedal assembly.
  20. Remove and discard the nuts that attach the brake booster to the bulkhead, and then remove the brake booster assembly from the vehicle.

    • 6 in extension

Install

  1. Position the brake booster assembly into the vehicle.
  2. Install new nuts that attach the brake booster to the bulkhead.
    16.5 Nm (12.2 lbs-ft)

    • 13 mm deep socket
    • 6 in extension
  3. Align the brake pedal to the iBooster rod, and then install the clevis pin to the brake pedal assembly.
  4. Install the cotter clip to the clevis pin on the brake pedal assembly.
  5. Install the brake switch onto the pedal assembly by pushing the brake switch into the clip until it stops, twisting it clockwise 45 degrees to lock it in place, and ensuring the connector faces the RH side of the vehicle with the pins oriented vertically.

    Note
    • Confirm the brake pedal is in the home position. The iBooster and brake pedal must be assembled together before the brake light switch can be installed.
    • Do not push the brake switch too hard as it can move the brake pedal.
  6. Connect the brake switch electrical connector.
  7. Install the LH footwell air duct. See .
  8. Install the driver knee airbag. See .
  9. Connect the rear brake line to the master cylinder.
    16 Nm (11.8 lbs-ft)

  10. Connect the forward brake line to the master cylinder.
    16 Nm (11.8 lbs-ft)

  11. Clean the area around the brake fluid reservoir, and then remove the cap.
  12. Fill the brake fluid reservoir to the "MAX" level.

    CAUTION
    Make sure not to get any brake fluid on any painted surface. Clean residual brake fluid with a shop towel.
  13. Remove the absorbent material from beneath the brake booster and reservoir area.
  14. Connect the harness connectors to the brake booster assembly, and then engage the locking tabs.

  15. Connect the brake fluid reservoir electrical connector, and then engage the locking tabs.

  16. Connect 12V power. See 12V/LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  17. Redeploy firmware. See .
  18. Bleed the brakes. See .
  19. Install the HEPA filter assembly. See .
  20. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  21. Exit Service Mode Plus. See .
  22. Move the LH front seat to original position.
  23. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
  24. Remove the vehicle from the lift.
  25. Perform a test drive.
