Countersunk Rivet, 4.8 mm Short

Repair Procedure

  1. Remove the Hood (Remove and Install).
  2. Remove the HVAC Assembly (Remove and Replace).
  3. Remove the Windshield (HW4) (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove the Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the Vehicle HV Disablement Procedure.
  6. Remove the A/C Line - Supermanifold to HVAC (Remove and Replace).
  7. Remove the original component.

  8. Prepare for installation.
  9. Prepare for installation.

    Note
    For these plug welds, drill a 6 mm hole in each of the indicated locations.
  10. Apply structural adhesive to the mating surfaces on the vehicle and the new component or components.
  11. Install the new component or components.
  12. Perform GMA welding.

    CAUTION
    Do not weld on a Tesla vehicle before performing the Vehicle Electrical Isolation Procedure (refer to the vehicle-specific Service Manual for more information on the Vehicle Electrical Isolation Procedure). Welding on a Tesla vehicle with an energized high or low voltage system might damage vehicle components.

    Note
    Before GMA welding, a test weld using material of the same gauge and type should be performed to make sure that the welding equipment settings produce a satisfactory joint.
  13. Perform any necessary post-repair operations.
  14. Install the A/C Line - Supermanifold to HVAC (Remove and Replace).
  15. Install the Vehicle HV Disablement Procedure.
  16. Install the Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
  17. Install the Windshield (HW4) (Remove and Replace).
  18. Install the HVAC Assembly (Remove and Replace).
  19. Install the Hood (Remove and Install).
