Repair Information
- Depending on the damage to this component, it may be possible to repair this component. Refer to Cast Shock Tower (Front) Repair Guidelines for more information.
- Review all collision repair general practices and safety documentation and wear the appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) before beginning this procedure.
- Properly mount the vehicle on a frame bench when performing this procedure.

Repair Procedure
- Remove the Torque Box Inner.
- Remove the Front Row Seat Floor (Section).
- Remove the necessary portion of the Hinge Pillar Assembly.

Remove the original component.

Drill through factory spot welds
NoteWhen drilling out spot welds, use a drill bit that creates a hole correctly sized for the fastener that will replace the spot weld.or
Bolts

Prepare for installation.
NoteA red X indicates a location where a factory-installed fastener is not being replaced.

High Strength Structural Rivets, 6.5 mm
- A = 23 mm
- B = 79 mm
- C = 15 mm
- D = 20 mm
- E = 24 mm
- F = 67 mm
or
Structural Flange Rivets, 6.5 mm
or
Bolts
- Apply structural adhesive to the mating surfaces on the vehicle and the new component or components.

Install the new component or components.
Torque the fasteners as follows:
- T2000,M8X1.25-28 bolts, part number 1621839-00-B: 30 Nm.
- BLT,BF,M8-1.25x25,[109],G1009,NJ bolts, part number 1994894-00-A: 30 Nm.
- SCR,M10-1.50X25,HF,MPNT,STL10.9,ZNC,PTCH bolts, part number 1004383-00-C: 45 Nm.
- M8x1.25-31 bolts, part number 1660843-00: 30 Nm.

Perform GMA welding.

Refer to Approved Gas Metal Arc (GMA) Welders and Welding Wire for information on approved GMA welders and welding wire.CAUTIONDo not weld on a Tesla vehicle before performing the Vehicle Electrical Isolation Procedure (refer to the vehicle-specific Service Manual for more information on the Vehicle Electrical Isolation Procedure). Welding on a Tesla vehicle with an energized high or low voltage system might damage vehicle components.NoteBefore GMA welding, a test weld using material of the same gauge and type should be performed to make sure that the welding equipment settings produce a satisfactory joint.
- Install the Torque Box Inner.
- Install the Front Row Seat Floor (Section).
- Install the Front Frame Rail.
- Install the Hood Hinge Bracket.
- Perform any necessary post-repair operations.
