Assembly - B-Pillar Applique - LH (Remove and Replace)

Note
Replacing the B-pillar applique also replaces the following components:
  • LH B-Pillar Applique - Replaces the LH side-view DAS camera, the external NFC key card reader, and the LH Bluetooth endpoint.
  • RH B-Pillar Applique - Replaces the RH side-view DAS camera and the RH Bluetooth endpoint.

Remove

Warning
Whenever a camera has been moved out of its original position (for example, a camera or windshield replacement), camera calibration data must be cleared using the vehicle touchscreen: Controls > Service > Camera Calibration > Clear Calibration.
  1. Open the LH doors and lower the LH windows.
  2. Partially release the LH rear primary seal from the B-pillar area to gain access to the LH B-pillar applique.
  3. Remove the double-sided tapes from underneath the B-pillar applique.
  4. Release the trim clip that attaches the upper portion of the B-pillar applique to the B-pillar.
    Note
    Insert the clip pry tool into the position 7.5cm below the B-pillar camera.
    Note
    Make sure the pry tool is under the B-pillar applique seal.
  5. Release the trim clip that attaches the lower portion of B-pillar applique to the B-pillar.
    Note
    Insert the clip pry tool into the position 6 cm above the bottom of the B-pillar applique.
    Note
    Make sure the pry tool is under the B-pillar applique seal.
  6. Slide the B-pillar applique down slightly to release the assembly from the body, and then release the clip that attaches the B-pillar applique seal to the body.
    CAUTION
    The clip is glued to the seal and will tear if the pry tool is engaged at the seal clip.
    CAUTION
    Do not pull the applique too far from the vehicle, as the applique is still attached by an electrical connector.
  7. Disconnect the camera connector and the NFC connector from the B-pillar applique, and then remove the applique from the vehicle.
    CAUTION
    Use caution not to damage the connectors.
  8. Use IPA wipes to clean all residual adhesive from the LH B-pillar surface, and allow 1 min to dry.

Replace

  1. Connect the camera connector and the NFC connector to the B-pillar applique, and then position the B-pillar applique onto the vehicle.
  2. Slightly slide the applique upward to engage the tab that attaches the B-pillar applique to the vehicle, and then install the clips (x2).
  3. Install the clip that attaches the B-pillar applique seal to the vehicle.
  4. Remove the protective film from the double-sided tapes and press the tapes to secure the LH B-pillar applique.
  5. Install the LH rear primary seal to the B-pillar area.
  6. Enable Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  7. Unlock the vehicle gateway. See Gateway (Unlock).
  8. Reinstall the vehicle software. See Software Reinstall - Touchscreen.
    Skip this step for RH side.
  9. On the touchscreen, tap the Service Mode "wrench" (at the bottom of the touchscreen UI), and then tap Driver Assist > Cameras > Clear Camera Calibration, select BPillars in the Camera Selection drop list, click Run, and allow the routine to complete.
  10. On the touchscreen, tap the Service Mode "wrench" (at the bottom of the touchscreen UI), and then tap Driver Assist > Cameras > Update Camera, select B_PILLAR_LEFT in the drop list, click Run, and allow the routine to complete.
    Note
    Select B_PILLAR_RIGHT in the drop list for RH side.
  11. Press and hold the Exit Service Mode button on the UI to exit Service Mode Plus.
  12. Inform the customer that manual driving is now required to self-calibrate the camera.
    Note
    Self-calibration can take up to 100 miles (160 km) of manual driving, depending upon the road type and condition. Until self-calibration is complete, the message "Autopilot Features Currently Unavailable: Manual Driving Required While Camera Is Calibrating" is displayed if an attempt is made to engage an Autopilot feature.
  13. Verify that all key cards work on the B-pillar applique as designed.
    Warning
    Stacking a mobile phone and a NFC card in wireless charger may damage the card.
  14. Raise the LH windows and close the LH doors.
