B-Pillar Outer (Complete)

Correction code: Pending Pending NOTE: Unless explicitly stated in the procedure, the above correction code includes all Collision Repair and Service repair work required to perform this procedure, including the linked Collision Repair procedures and linked Service procedures. Do not stack Collision Repair correction codes unless explicitly told to do so. Depending on the damage to the vehicle, additional repairs may be required.

Repair Procedure

  1. Remove the Glass - Backlight (Remove and Replace).
  2. Remove the Glass - Roof - Fixed (Remove and Replace).
  3. Remove the Door - Rear - LH (Remove and Install).
  4. Remove the Airbag - Curtain - LH (LHD) (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the Cover - Rocker Panel - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  6. Remove the Retractor - Seatbelt - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  7. Remove the Height Adjuster - Seatbelt - LH (Remove and Replace).
  8. Remove the Sensor - Impact Accelerometer - B-Pillar - LH (Remove and Replace).
  9. Remove the Seal - Body - Side - Front - Primary - LH (Remove and Replace).
  10. Remove the Seal - Body - Side - Rear - Primary - RH (Remove and Replace).
  11. Detach the harness from the B-Pillar.
  12. Remove the necessary portion of the Body Side Outer to expose the underlying component being replaced.
  13. Remove the B-Pillar Outer (Complete) from the new Door Ring Outer service as indicated below to make the new component.
  14. Remove the original component.

  15. Prepare for installation.

  16. Apply structural adhesive to the mating surfaces on the vehicle and the new component or components.
  17. Install the new component or components.
  18. Perform resistance spot welding.

    CAUTION
    Do not weld on a Tesla vehicle before performing the Vehicle Electrical Isolation Procedure (refer to the vehicle-specific Service Manual for more information on the Vehicle Electrical Isolation Procedure). Welding on a Tesla vehicle with an energized high or low voltage system might damage vehicle components.
  19. Install the portion of the Body Side Outer that was removed to expose the component being replaced.
  20. Perform any necessary post-repair operations.
  21. Attach the harness to the B-Pillar.
  22. Install the Seal - Body - Side - Rear - Primary - RH (Remove and Replace).
  23. Install the Seal - Body - Side - Front - Primary - LH (Remove and Replace).
  24. Install the Sensor - Impact Accelerometer - B-Pillar - LH (Remove and Replace).
  25. Install the Height Adjuster - Seatbelt - LH (Remove and Replace).
  26. Install the Retractor - Seatbelt - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  27. Install the Cover - Rocker Panel - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  28. Install the Airbag - Curtain - LH (LHD) (Remove and Replace).
  29. Install the Door - Rear - LH (Remove and Install).
  30. Install the Glass - Roof - Fixed (Remove and Replace).
  31. Install the Glass - Backlight (Remove and Replace).
