Repair Procedure

  1. Remove the Glass - Backlight (Remove and Replace).
  2. Remove the Glass - Body - Rear Quarter - LH (Remove and Replace).
  3. Remove the Retractor - Seatbelt - 2nd Row - Outboard (Single Side) (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove the Airbag - Curtain - RH (RHD) (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the Seal - Body - Side - Rear - Primary - RH (Remove and Replace).
  6. Remove the Foam - Seat Back - 2nd Row - RH (Remove and Replace).
  7. Remove the necessary portion of the Body Side Outer to expose the underlying component being replaced.
  8. Remove the original component.

  9. Prepare for installation.

  10. Apply structural adhesive to the mating surfaces on the vehicle and the new component or components.
  11. Install the new component or components.
  12. Perform resistance spot welding.

    CAUTION
    Do not weld on a Tesla vehicle before performing the Vehicle Electrical Isolation Procedure (refer to the vehicle-specific Service Manual for more information on the Vehicle Electrical Isolation Procedure). Welding on a Tesla vehicle with an energized high or low voltage system might damage vehicle components.
  13. Install the necessary portion of the Body Side Outer that was removed to expose the component being replaced.
  14. Perform any necessary post-repair operations.
  15. Install the Foam - Seat Back - 2nd Row - RH (Remove and Replace).
  16. Install the Seal - Body - Side - Rear - Primary - RH (Remove and Replace).
  17. Install the Airbag - Curtain - RH (RHD) (Remove and Replace).
  18. Install the Retractor - Seatbelt - 2nd Row - Outboard (Single Side) (Remove and Replace).
  19. Install the Glass - Body - Rear Quarter - LH (Remove and Replace).
  20. Install the Glass - Backlight (Remove and Replace).
