Repair Information

Review all collision repair general practices and safety documentation and wear the appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) before beginning this procedure.
Properly mount the vehicle on a frame bench when performing this procedure.

Repair Procedure

Remove the Bumper Beam - Rear (Remove and Replace).
Remove the Front Carpet - Rear Trunk (Remove and Replace).
Remove the Tub Carpet - Rear Trunk (Remove and Replace).
Remove the Trim - Side - Trunk - LH (Remove and Replace).
Remove the Busbar - Charge Port to HV Battery (China) (Remove and Replace).
Remove the Wheel Arch Liner - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace).
Remove the Subframe Assembly - Rear (Remove and Replace).
Remove the Noise Absorber - Motor Bay - Rear (Remove and Replace).
Remove the Trunk Floor Assembly (Complete).
Remove the Rear Damper Mount Upper Assembly with Stiffeners.
Cut the Wheelhouse Inner as shown and bend back the cut section to expose the spot welds underneath.
Cut Line
- A = 92 mm
Remove the original component.

Cut the original component as shown, then remove the section shown in red to expose the fasteners underneath.

Secure the flange of the service part using Installation Spot Welds.

Perform resistance spot welding.

Warning
Failure to follow all welding safety precautions, including the use of personal protective equipment, could result in serious injury or property damage. Only technicians who have completed Tesla’s approved welding training are authorized to weld structural components on Tesla vehicles.

CAUTION
Do not weld on a Tesla vehicle before performing the Vehicle Electrical Isolation Procedure (refer to the vehicle-specific Service Manual for more information on the Vehicle Electrical Isolation Procedure). Welding on a Tesla vehicle with an energized high or low voltage system might damage vehicle components.
Prepare for installation.

- C = 10 mm
- D = 32 mm
- E = 29 mm
- J = 11 mm
- K = 15 mm
- L = 49 mm

- F = 88 mm
- G = 24 mm
- H = 5 mm
- I = 9 mm
or Flow Form Rivets, S38
Apply structural adhesive to the mating surfaces on the vehicle and the new component or components.
Install the new component or components.
Torque the bolts to 24 Nm.
Apply structural adhesive to the mating surfaces on the vehicle and the the cut section of the Wheelhouse Inner.
Bend the cut section of the Wheelhouse Inner as shown and to cover the fasteners underneath.
Install the Rear Damper Mount Upper Assembly with Stiffeners.
Install the Trunk Floor Assembly (Complete).
Perform any necessary post-repair operations.
Install the Noise Absorber - Motor Bay - Rear (Remove and Replace).
Install the Subframe Assembly - Rear (Remove and Replace).
Install the Wheel Arch Liner - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace).
Install the Busbar - Charge Port to HV Battery (China) (Remove and Replace).
Install the Trim - Side - Trunk - LH (Remove and Replace).
Install the Tub Carpet - Rear Trunk (Remove and Replace).
Install the Front Carpet - Rear Trunk (Remove and Replace).
Install the Bumper Beam - Rear (Remove and Replace).
