Rear Spring and Subframe Mount

Repair Procedure

  1. Remove the Trunk Floor Assembly (Complete).
  2. Remove the Rear Damper Mount Upper Assembly with Stiffeners.
  3. Cut the Wheelhouse Inner as shown and bend back the cut section to expose the spot welds underneath.
    Cut Line
    • A = 92 mm
  4. Remove the original component.

    or Bolts

  5. Cut the original component as shown, then remove the section shown in red to expose the fasteners underneath.

  7. Secure the flange of the service part using Installation Spot Welds.

  8. Perform resistance spot welding.

    CAUTION
    Do not weld on a Tesla vehicle before performing the Vehicle Electrical Isolation Procedure (refer to the vehicle-specific Service Manual for more information on the Vehicle Electrical Isolation Procedure). Welding on a Tesla vehicle with an energized high or low voltage system might damage vehicle components.
  9. Prepare for installation.

    • B = 31 mm
    • C = 10 mm
    • D = 32 mm
    • E = 29 mm
    • J = 11 mm
    • K = 15 mm
    • L = 49 mm
    or Structural Countersunk Rivets, 6.5 mm
    • F = 88 mm
    • G = 24 mm
    • H = 5 mm
    • I = 9 mm

  10. Apply structural adhesive to the mating surfaces on the vehicle and the new component or components.
  11. Install the new component or components.
    Torque the bolts to 24 Nm.
  12. Apply structural adhesive to the mating surfaces on the vehicle and the the cut section of the Wheelhouse Inner.
  13. Bend the cut section of the Wheelhouse Inner as shown and to cover the fasteners underneath.
  14. Install the Rear Damper Mount Upper Assembly with Stiffeners.
  15. Install the Trunk Floor Assembly (Complete).
  16. Perform any necessary post-repair operations.
