- This procedure can be completed without using a frame bench.

Repair Procedure

Remove the necessary portion
of the Body Side Outer
Assembly to expose the underlying component being replaced.

Remove the Roof Rail
Extension.

Remove the original component.

Factory Spot Welds

Factory SPRs

Prepare for installation.

Installation Spot Welds
or Structural Rivets, 6.5 mm Short
or Countersunk Rivets, 4.8 mm Short
- A = 22 mm.
- B = 15 mm.
- C = 10 mm.
- D = 5 mm.
NoteThe countersunk rivets are installed on either side of the hole where a factory SPR was removed.
- Apply structural adhesive to the mating surfaces on the vehicle and the new component or components.
- Install the new component or components.

Perform resistance spot
welding.

Welding on a Tesla vehicle with an energized high or low voltage system might damage vehicle components.

Install the Roof Rail
Extension.

Install the portion of the
Body Side Outer
Assembly that was removed to expose the component being replaced.

Install the fastener as indicated.
- Perform any necessary post-repair operations.
