B-Pillar Outer (Lower)

Correction code: 10100100202 10100100902 NOTE: Unless explicitly stated in the procedure, the above correction code includes all Collision Repair and Service repair work required to perform this procedure, including the linked Collision Repair procedures and linked Service procedures. Do not stack Collision Repair correction codes unless explicitly told to do so. Depending on the damage to the vehicle, additional repairs may be required.

Repair Procedure

  1. Remove the Striker - Door - LH (Remove and Replace).
  2. Remove the Sill Plate - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace).
  3. Remove the Sill Plate - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove the Windshield (LHD) (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the Door - Rear - LH (Remove and Install).
  6. Remove the Hinge - Door - Rear - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace).
  7. Remove the Hinge - Door - Rear - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  8. Remove the Cover - Rocker Panel - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  9. Remove the Seal - Body - Side - Front - Primary - LH (Remove and Replace).
  10. Remove the Seal - Body - Side - Rear - Primary - RH (Remove and Replace).
  11. Remove the Retractor - Seatbelt - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  12. Remove the Carpet - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  13. Remove the Carpet - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  14. Remove the necessary portion of the Body Side Outer to expose the underlying component being replaced.
  15. Remove the B-Pillar Outer (Lower) from the new Door Ring Outer service as indicated below to make the new component.
  16. Remove the original component.

    Note
    When drilling out spot welds, use a drill bit that creates a hole correctly sized for the fastener that will replace the spot weld.
  17. Remove the weld nuts from inside the B-Pillar.

    Access the weld nuts through the bulk cut area at the bottom of the B-Pillar.
  18. Remove the original component.

    When drilling out spot welds, use a drill bit that creates a hole correctly sized for the fastener that will replace the spot weld.
  19. Prepare for installation.

    A red X indicates a location where a factory-installed fastener is not being replaced. Secure this location using structural adhesive only.

    or Structural Bulb Rivets, 6.5 mm
    • I = 10 mm.
  20. Apply structural adhesive to the mating surfaces on the vehicle and the new component or components.
  21. Install the new component or components.
  22. Perform resistance spot welding.

    CAUTION
    Do not weld on a Tesla vehicle before performing the Vehicle Electrical Isolation Procedure (refer to the vehicle-specific Service Manual for more information on the Vehicle Electrical Isolation Procedure). Welding on a Tesla vehicle with an energized high or low voltage system might damage vehicle components.
  23. Install the portion of the Body Side Outer that was removed to expose the component being replaced.
  24. Install the fastener as indicated.

  25. Perform any necessary post-repair operations.
  26. Install the Carpet - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  27. Install the Carpet - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  28. Install the Retractor - Seatbelt - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  29. Install the Seal - Body - Side - Rear - Primary - RH (Remove and Replace).
  30. Install the Seal - Body - Side - Front - Primary - LH (Remove and Replace).
  31. Install the Cover - Rocker Panel - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  32. Install the Hinge - Door - Rear - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  33. Install the Hinge - Door - Rear - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace).
  34. Install the Door - Rear - LH (Remove and Install).
  35. Install the Windshield (LHD) (Remove and Replace).
  36. Install the Sill Plate - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  37. Install the Sill Plate - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace).
  38. Install the Striker - Door - LH (Remove and Replace).
