Battery Flow Nut Replacement (Front)

Repair Information

  • Review all collision repair general practices and safety documentation and wear the appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) before beginning this procedure.
  • This procedure can be completed without using a frame bench.
  • Damaged Battery Flow Nuts (Square Nuts) can be replaced on either of the indicated Retainer Rails (Retainer Rails may be reused if not damaged). Replace both Battery Flow Nuts on a Retainer Rail if either Battery Flow Nut is damaged. It is not necessary to replace the Battery Flow Nuts on both Retainer Rails if neither of the Battery Flow Nuts on one Retainer Rail are damaged.

Repair Procedure

  1. Cut an access window on the bottom of the affected crossmember.

    Cut Line

    Reference Line/Point

    • A = 55 mm.
    • B = 107 mm.
    • C = 26 mm.
    • D = 51 mm.
  2. Remove the factory rivets in the repair area.
    or Factory Structural Rivets
  3. Cut the Retainer Rail.
  4. Remove necessary portion of the Retainer Rail through the access window.

    Note
    If the original Retainer Rail is not damaged, it can be reused.
  5. Remove the Battery Flow Nut from the Retainer Rail.
  6. Install the Battery Flow Nut on the Retainer Rail.
  7. Install the necessary portion of the Retainer Rail through the access window.
  8. Install fasteners through the crossmember and the Retainer Rail.
  9. Apply an anti-corrosion coating to any bare metal.
  10. Install a butyl patch over the access window.
  11. Perform any necessary post-repair operations.
