Repair Procedure

  1. Remove the original component.

  2. Prepare for installation.

  3. If the new Front Frame Rail has SPAC nuts preinstalled: Remove enough material from the Front Rail Adapter to allow installation of the new Torx bolts.
  4. If the new Front Frame Rail does not have SPAC nuts preinstalled: Use the existing holes in the Rail Adaptor as a template to create 9 mm. holes in the Front Frame Rail.
  5. If the new Front Frame Rail does not have SPAC nuts preinstalled: Remove the new component from the vehicle and enlarge the existing holes in the Front Frame Rail to 11 mm.
  6. If the new Front Frame Rail does not have SPAC nuts preinstalled: Apply structural adhesive to the inboard side of the SPAC nuts, then clamp them in place.
  7. Apply structural adhesive to the mating surfaces on the vehicle and the new component or components.
  8. Install the new component or components.
    Torque the bolts to 50 Nm.
  9. Perform GMA welding.

    CAUTION
    Do not weld on a Tesla vehicle before performing the Vehicle Electrical Isolation Procedure (refer to the vehicle-specific Service Manual for more information on the Vehicle Electrical Isolation Procedure). Welding on a Tesla vehicle with an energized high or low voltage system might damage vehicle components.

  10. Perform any necessary post-repair operations.
