2 ASSEMBLY - FRONT RAIL INNER WITH BRACKET (Front Frame Rail Inner)

When ordering parts, refer to the Parts Catalog and enter the VIN of the vehicle being repaired to find the correct parts (and the part numbers) for the vehicle. Alternatively, use the search function in the Parts Catalog to find a specific part for the vehicle.

Repair Procedure

  1. Remove the Front Trunk Bracket.
  2. Remove the Front Frame Rail Inner Reinforcement (Section).
  3. Cut the original component at the indicated locations.
    • Reference Line/Point
    • Cut Line A = 113 mm
  4. Cut the new Front Frame Rail Inner as indicated below to make the new component.
    • Reference Line/Point
    • Cut Line B = 177 mm C = 189 mm
  5. Cut the new Front Frame Rail Inner as indicated below to create a reinforcement plate.
    • Reference Line/Point
    • Cut Line D = 137 mm E = 217 mm

    Note
    Trim the lower portion of the reinforcement plate at an angle to clear the Front Frame Rail Inner Reinforcement when it is installed after this procedure.
  6. Prepare for installation.

  8. Apply structural adhesive to the mating surfaces on the vehicle and the new component or components.
  9. Install the new component or components.
  10. Perform resistance spot welding.

    Do not weld on a Tesla vehicle before performing the Vehicle Electrical Isolation Procedure (refer to the vehicle-specific Service Manual for more information on the Vehicle Electrical Isolation Procedure). Welding on a Tesla vehicle with an energized high or low voltage system might damage vehicle components.
  11. Install the Front Subframe Mount (Inner).
  12. Install the Front Frame Rail Inner Reinforcement (Section).
  13. Install the Front Trunk Bracket.
  14. Perform any necessary post-repair operations.
