Door Ring Inner with Header Reinforcement

Repair Information

  1. Review all collision repair general practices and safety documentation and wear the appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) before beginning this procedure.
  2. Properly mount the vehicle on a frame bench when performing this procedure.
  3. Any individual section or any combination of sections of the Door Ring Inner can be replaced so long as the referenced cut lines from the Door Ring Inner Section Descriptions portion of this document are used.
  4. In the area shown in green below, bent sections may be repaired using cold methods only.

    If the component is damaged in the area shown in red, the component should be replaced. If necessary, contact Tesla Collision Repair for assistance.

Repair Procedure

  1. Remove the necessary portion of the Door Ring Outer.
  2. Remove the Side Sill Insert (Complete).
  3. If replacing a section of the Door Ring Inner: Mark the Door Ring Inner at the section cut line locations described in the Door Ring Inner Section Descriptions.
  4. Remove the original component.

  18. Apply structural adhesive to the mating surfaces on the vehicle and the new component or components.
  19. For section repairs only: Install backing plates or reinforcement plates as described in the Door Ring Inner Section Descriptions.
  20. Install the new component or components.

    Torque bolts installed horizontally to 31 Nm. and torque bolts installed vertically to 31 Nm.

  21. Perform resistance spot welding.

    Do not weld on a Tesla vehicle before performing the Vehicle Electrical Isolation Procedure (refer to the vehicle-specific Service Manual for more information on the Vehicle Electrical Isolation Procedure).   23. Install the necessary portion of the Door Ring Outer.
  24. Install the fasteners as indicated.
