Repair Procedure

  1. Remove the Shotgun Shear Wall.
  2. Cut the original component at the indicated locations.
    • Reference Line/Point
    • Cut Line A = 45 mm
  3. Remove the original component.
    • or Factory Spot Welds
  4. Cut one of the new Front Frame Rail Outer components as indicated below to make the new component.
    • Reference Line/Point
    • Cut Line B = 530 mm
  5. Cut one of the new Front Frame Rail Outer components as indicated below to create a reinforcement plate.
    • Reference Line/Point
    • Cut Line C = 570 mm D = 507 mm
  6. Prepare for installation.

    Note
    A red X indicates a location where a factory-installed fastener is not being replaced.
  7. Apply structural adhesive to the mating surfaces on the vehicle and the new component or components.
  8. Install the new component or components.
    Torque the bolts to 13 Nm.
  9. Perform resistance spot welding.

    CAUTION
    Do not weld on a Tesla vehicle before performing the Vehicle Electrical Isolation Procedure (refer to the vehicle-specific Service Manual for more information on the Vehicle Electrical Isolation Procedure). Welding on a Tesla vehicle with an energized high or low voltage system might damage vehicle components.
  10. Install the Shotgun Shear Wall.
  11. Perform any necessary post-repair operations.
