Rear Panel (Model YL) (Remove and Replace)

Reuse

Remove

  1. Remove the trunk tub. See Trunk Tub (Model YL) (Remove and Replace).
  2. Remove the rear center bolt that secures the lower trunk assembly.

    • 10 mm socket
  3. Remove the rear fastening bolts (x2) that secure the lower trunk assembly.

  4. Remove the rear bumper beam. See Rear Bumper Beam (Remove and Replace).
  5. Lift the rear primary seal from the rear panel.
  6. Remove the rear fascia center bracket. See Bracket - Center - Rear Fascia (Remove and Replace).
  7. Remove the liftgate striker. See Striker - Liftgate (Remove and Replace).
  8. Remove the bolts (x4) that attach the rear panel to the body.

    • 10 mm socket
  9. Slide the rear panel outward to remove it from the rear of the vehicle.

Install

  1. Align the holes on the rear panel to the studs on the body, pay attaention to the location pins (x2).
  2. Install the bolts (x4) that attach the rear panel to the body.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)

  3. Install the rear fascia center bracket. See Bracket - Center - Rear Fascia (Remove and Replace).
  4. Seat the liftgate primary seal along the rear panel assembly.
  5. Install the rear bumper beam. See Rear Bumper Beam (Remove and Replace).
  6. Install a new rear center bolt that secures the lower trunk assembly.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)

  7. Install the rear fastening bolts (x2) that secure the lower trunk assembly.
    24 Nm (17.7 lbs-ft)
