Cover - Seat Back - 1st Row - RH (6 Seat) (Remove and Replace)

Seat base edges are sharp and can cause personal injury. Wear cut resistant gloves when removing the seat from the vehicle, and while performing procedures that involve work on or near the seat base.

Torque Specifications

Replace 1068309-00-A

Remove

  1. Remove the 1st row RH seat assembly. See 1st Row Seat- LH (Remove and Install).
  2. Rotate the seat to gain access to the underside of the seat cushion frame.

    Protect the seat cushion from damage.
  3. Unhook the straps (x2) for the lower section of seat back, and move the seat back flap away from the underside of the seat.
  4. Disconnect the 1st row RH seat back heater connector.
  5. Slide the 1st row RH seat back heater connector forward to release it from the seat assembly.
  6. Return the seat to the upright position.
  7. Remove the 1st row RH seat lumbar support. See 1st Row Power Lumbar Seatback - LH (Model YL) (Remove and Install).
  8. Remove and discard the nuts (x2) that attach the outer airbag to the seat back frame, and then pull the studs of the airbag out of the seat back frame.

    Do not use impact tools.

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  9. Remove the seat upholstery by pulling the bottom of the seat back trim away from the seat back frame.

    Note
    Make sure the heater harness and the seat back assembly is clear of the seat back frame.
  10. Slide the outer airbag chute with the airbag still inside through the seat back foam, and then carefully remove the airbag from the airbag chute.

    CAUTION
    Make sure that the 1st row RH seat outer airbag mounting studs do not catch in the holes of the airbag chute.

    CAUTION
    Handle the airbag with extreme care when removing it from the airbag chute. The airbag is configured/folded in a specific manner and will need to be replaced if it is dropped, altered or manipulated in any way.
  11. Remove the heater harness from the seat back cover assembly.
  12. Gently release the retainer and velcro strips (x4) that attach the 1st row RH seat back cover to the seat back foam, and then remove the 1st row RH seat back cover from the seat back foam.

    CAUTION
    Be careful when removing the cover to avoid damage.

Install

  1. Install the retainer and velcro strips (x4) that attach the 1st row RH seat back cover to the seat back foam.
  2. Install the heater harness to the seat back cover assembly.
  3. Install the 1st row RH seat outer airbag into the airbag chute, and then insert the airbag chute with the airbag inside through the slot in the seat back foam.

    CAUTION
    Make sure that the 1st row RH side airbag mounting studs extend out of the holes of the chute.

    CAUTION
    Handle the airbag with extreme care when installing it into the airbag chute. The airbag is configured/folded in a specific manner and will need to be replaced if it is dropped, altered or manipulated in any way.
  4. Install the 1st row RH seat back and foam onto the seat back frame.

    Note
    Start by sliding the foam trim straight onto the seat back frame. Ensure the heater harness and lower trim that engages the frame are pushed through to the back side of the frame.
  5. Position the 1st row RH seat outer air bag studs into the seat frame, and then install new nuts (x2) that attach the 1st row RH seat airbag to the seat back frame.
    5.4 Nm (4.0 lbs-ft)

  6. Install the 1st row RH seat lumbar support. See 1st Row Power Lumbar Seatback - LH (Model YL) (Remove and Install).
  7. Rotate the seat to gain access to the underside of the seat cushion frame.

    CAUTION
    Protect the seat cushion from damage.
  8. Fasten the clip that attaches the seat back heater connector to the seat underside, and then connect the connector.

    Note
    Slide the connector onto the seat frame clip to secure.
  9. Hook the straps (x2) for seat back cover onto the seat cushion suspension.
  10. Return the seat to the upright position.
  11. Install the 1st row RH seat assembly. See 1st Row Seat- LH (Remove and Install).
