Repair Procedure

  1. Remove the Body Side (Complete).
  2. Remove the C–Pillar Lower Extension.
  3. Remove the Heelboard Crossmember Glove.
  4. Remove the original component.

  5. Prepare for installation.

  6. Apply structural adhesive to the mating surfaces on the vehicle and the new component or components.
  7. Install the new component or components.
    Torque the bolts as follows:
    • Hex-head M8x20 bolts part number 1014747-00-B: 24 Nm.
    • Hex-head M10x25 bolts part number 1004383-00-C: 45 Nm.
    • Hex-head M8x27 bolt part number 1621820-00-A: 24 Nm.
    • Hex-head M8x50 bolt part number 1046838-00-A: 24 Nm.
    • Torx bolts M8x28 part number 1621839-00-B: 30 Nm.
    • Torx bolt M8x20 part number 1022448-00-A: 30 Nm.
  8. Perform GMA welding.

    CAUTION
    Do not weld on a Tesla vehicle before performing the Vehicle Electrical Isolation Procedure (refer to the vehicle-specific Service Manual for more information on the Vehicle Electrical Isolation Procedure). Welding on a Tesla vehicle with an energized high or low voltage system might damage vehicle components.

    Note
    Before GMA welding, a test weld using material of the same gauge and type should be performed to make sure that the welding equipment settings produce a satisfactory joint.
  9. Install the Heelboard Crossmember Glove.
  10. Install the C–Pillar Lower Extension.
  11. Install the Falcon Door Striker Bracket.
  12. Install the Body Side (Complete).
  13. Perform any necessary post-repair operations.
