  1. Open all doors and lower all windows.
  2. Apply masking tape to protect the paint on the vehicle.
  3. Measure and record the gaps from the fixed roof glass to windshield, body sides, and backlight glass.

    The gap measurements are used for the installation of the fixed roof glass.
  4. Prepare the WRD Spider 3 glass removal kit (1571168-00-A).
  5. Secure the line to the starter tool and push the tool through the urethane at the LH rear corner of the fixed roof glass assembly.

    CAUTION
    Be careful not to damage the headliner assembly and exterior paint.
  6. Release the line from the starter tool and wrap the line around the exterior of the fixed roof glass assembly.

    Make sure enough length is pulled through the glass, and the line sits underneath the glass.
  7. Insert an end of the nylon cord through the eye of that starter tool and pull it into inside of the body.

    The starting tool shall be close to the glass corner as far as possible, so as to obtain a relatively large space for the nylon cord to pass through.
  8. Attach the anchor point to the interior of the fixed roof glass assembly, and then secure the line to the anchor.
  9. Secure the interior side of the line to the Spider cutting tool.

    Follow the instructions on the Spider tool. Feed the line through the opening of the cutting tool and tie a knot to secure the line in place. If the spindle is not turned the proper direction, the cutting tool will be damaged.
  10. Secure the Spider cutting tool to the interior side of the fixed roof glass assembly.

    Note the orientation of the cutting line. Make sure the line wraps over the large pulley and holds a 90 degree angle.
  11. Install an angle driver to an electric drill and set the drill clutch to 1.

    Failure to set the drill clutch to 1 may result in serious injury.
  12. Use the drill to turn the spindle on the cutting tool. Begin cutting urethane around the glass.

    Do not begin cutting the windshield without first setting the drill clutch to 1. Failure to do so may result in serious injury.

    Wear appropriate eye and hand protection while cutting the glass assembly.

    CAUTION
    Place a plastic guard to protect the headliner assembly.

    CAUTION
    Take precaution to make sure the line goes above the datums and the roof brackets. If the line gets caught on the roof bracket then the line will break.

    Use the headliner protector or a trim tool to apply upward pressure to the line as it cuts. Do not use your hands.

    Move the cutting tool as needed while keeping the line close to a 90° angle. If the line gets stuck, try to pull it backwards in order release it from under the metal roof bracket or change the positions of the anchor and cutting tool.

  13. Attach suction cups (x2) to each corner of the fixed roof glass.
  14. With an assistant, remove the fixed roof glass from the vehicle.
  15. Remove the suction cups from the fixed roof glass.
  16. Use a scraper to remove old urethane from the body, and then wipe the body to clean the surfaces with isopropyl alcohol wipes.

  1. Attach suction cups (x2) to each corner of the new fixed roof glass.
  2. Clean the leading edge of the fixed roof glass with isopropyl alcohol wipes. Allow the surface to dry before continuing to the next step.
  3. Clean the urethane path on the vehicle with an isopropyl alcohol wipes. Allow the surface to dry before continuing to the next step.
  4. Apply urethane primer to the vehicle body along the urethane path and in areas that were damaged during removal of the fixed roof glass.

    Allow the primer to dry for at least 2 minutes.
  5. Remove the masking tape from the vehicle.
  6. Apply urethane to the body following the original path.

    Make sure that the urethane bead has a triangular cross-section of approximate width 12.5 mm and height 20 mm.
  7. With an assistant, place the new fixed roof glass onto the vehicle.

    Align the datum at the rear of the glass to the body.
  8. Using the gap measurements that were recorded during removal of the fixed roof glass, press the new fixed roof glass onto the body.

    Make sure that the glass is tightly attached to the vehicle body.
  9. Verify that the clearances with the windshield, body sides, and backlight glass are within the gap measurements and adjust, if necessary.
  10. Remove the suction cups from the new fixed roof glass.
  11. Apply tape to attach the fixed roof glass temporarily.
  12. Reposition the windshield and backlight glass seals, if necessary.

    Spray glass cleaner to lubricate the seals, if necessary.
  13. Remove the masking tape after the urethane has cured.

    CAUTION

  14. Enter Service Mode Plus. See .
  15. Select Service Mode Plus > Thermal > Actions > Thermal Configuration > roofGlassType. Select the configuration for the type of glass that was just installed.

  16. Exit Service Mode.
  17. Raise all windows and close all doors.
