Alternatively, instead of replacing the complete Dogleg Lower, areas of the Dogleg Lower can be replaced using portions of the Dogleg Lower using the cut lines described in this document.

Note
Create a reinforcement plate 75 mm wide, and install it as indicated.

Repair Procedure

  1. Remove the necessary portion of the Body Side Outer to expose the underlying component being replaced.
  2. Remove the original component.

    If replacing a section of the Dogleg Lower: Remove only the section and the fasteners in the section being replaced.

  3. Prepare for installation.

  4. Apply structural adhesive to the mating surfaces on the vehicle and the new component or components.
  5. Install the new component or components.
  6. Perform resistance spot welding.

    CAUTION
    Do not weld on a Tesla vehicle before performing the Vehicle Electrical Isolation Procedure (refer to the vehicle-specific Service Manual for more information on the Vehicle Electrical Isolation Procedure). Welding on a Tesla vehicle with an energized high or low voltage system might damage vehicle components.
  7. Install the portion of the Body Side Outer that was removed to expose the component being replaced.
  8. Install the fastener as indicated.
  9. Perform any necessary post-repair operations.
