Tie Rod - Inner - LH (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Remove the LH front wheel arch liner. See Wheel Arch Liner - Front - LH (Non-Structural Pack) (Remove and Replace) or Wheel Arch Liner - Front - LH (Structural Pack) (Remove and Replace).
  2. Remove LH outer tie rod from knuckle
    Note
    1x nyloc nut, 22mm, 180 Nm, Discard after removal
  3. Remove LH tie rod end from knuckle
  4. Remove large bellows clamp from bellows
    Note
    1x clamp, Discard after removal
  5. Remove bellows seal clip from bellows
    Note
    1x clip
  6. Slide bellows toward LH outer tie rod end
    Note
    You need to access the LH inner tie rod end inner ball joint
  7. Remove LH tie rod assembly from pinion housing
    Note
    1x inner tie rod, 38mm crowfoot, 88 Nm, Twist until it comes off

Install

  1. Adjusting new tie rod length to match old tie rod before installation
    Note
    1x jam nut, 21mm, 14mm, Turn adjust inner tie rod as needed, Parts line up is to count the threads on the removed tie rod then adjust to the same count on the new one, This will make alignment adjustment easier
  2. Install LH inner tie rod assembly onto pinion housing
    Note
    1x inner tie rod, 38 crowfoot, 88 Nm, Twist until it's fully seated
  3. Slide bellows into clamping position
    Note
    Slide bellows over pinion housing in preparation for clamping
  4. Secure large bellows clamp onto bellows
    Note
    1x clamp
  5. Secure bellows seal clip onto bellows
    Note
    1x clamp
  6. Position LH tie rod end to LH front knuckle
  7. Install nut securing the LH tie rod end to the knuckle
    Note
    1x nyloc nut, 22mm, 180 Nm, Install new nyloc nut
  8. Install the LH front wheel arch liner. See Wheel Arch Liner - Front - LH (Non-Structural Pack) (Remove and Replace) or Wheel Arch Liner - Front - LH (Structural Pack) (Remove and Replace).
  9. Review wheel alignment requirements and add correction code as needed. See Alignment Requirement - Suspension.
