If using this procedure to diagnosis the vehicle's Supplemental Restraint Systems (SRS), disarm the RCM, which will prevent all airbags and pretensioners from deploying. Re-arm the RCM after all of the vehicle's SRS components are re-installed.

Remove

  1. Open all doors and fully lower all windows.
  2. Open the liftgate.
  3. Remove the front headliner. See .
  4. Remove the rear headliner. See .
  5. Remove the 2nd row lower seat cushion. See Seat Cushion - Lower - 2nd Row (Remove and Replace).
  6. Disconnect 12V power. See 12V/LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  7. Disconnect the electrical harness from the LH curtain airbag connector.
  8. Remove the bolts that attach the front and center portions of the LH curtain airbag to the body.

  9. Remove the bolts that attach the rear portion of the LH curtain airbag to the body.

    • 10 mm socket
  10. Carefully release the clips (x8) that attach the LH curtain airbag to the side rail, and remove the airbag from the vehicle.

    If any clips are damaged, the airbag must be replaced.

    The airbag should always be handled by the igniter; the igniter should never be left dangling.

Install

  1. Install the LH curtain airbag to the side rail, and then carefully fasten the clips (x8) that attach the airbag to the side rail.

  2. Install and hand-tighten the bolts that attach the rear portion of the LH curtain airbag to the body.
