Remove

  1. Open the front LH door.
  2. Lower the LH front window.
  3. Apply tape to the LH rear door and body side upper hinge location.

    This will mark where the hinge should align during installation.
  4. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the LH upper rear door hinge to the body.
    24 Nm (17.7 lbs-ft)

    TIp
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
  5. Partially open the LH front door. With an assistant, partially open the LH rear door, and then pull the hinge away from the body. Move the hinge outwards to gain access to the guided pins.
  6. Close the LH rear door.
  7. Remove the guided pins.

    Remove the guided pins (x2) out of LH rear upper door hinge using locking pliers (1115178-00-A or similar).

    Rotate the pins during removal.

Install

  1. Install the hinge to the body.

    CAUTION
    Do not damage the vehicle paint.
  2. Hand-tighten the bolts (x2) that attach the hinge to the body.
  3. Close the LH front door.
  4. Check the gap and flushness of the LH rear door.

    Adjust the LH rear door if necessary. Refer to CVIS for current specifications.
  5. Open the LH front door.
  6. Tighten the bolt and nut that attach the hinge to the door, if loosened for door adjustment.
    49 Nm (36.1 lbs-ft)

  7. Tighten the bolts (x2) that attach the hinge to the body.
    24 Nm (17.7 lbs-ft)

  8. Remove the tape from the LH body side and door side of the upper hinge location.
  9. Apply touch-up paint to the hinge bolts.

    Make sure to shake the touch-up paint before applying,

    Allow 1st coat to dry for 20 minutes before applying 2nd coat, if needed.
  10. Raise the LH front window.
  11. Close the LH front door.
