Remove

  1. Remove the rear underhood apron. See .
  2. Remove the front LH wheel. See #GUID-0B862D15-7178-4435-AEF2-0B40B8BEE686.
  3. Remove the bolt that attaches the brake hose bracket to the front LH knuckle.

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  4. Position the oil drain under the front LH brake hose.
  5. Remove the bolt that attaches the brake hose to the brake caliper, and allow the fluid to drain.

    Note
    The bolt and washers (x2) are captive and cannot be reused. Replace the hose assembly if the bolt is loosened or removed.

    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
  6. Remove the brake line tube nut from the brake hose at the jounce hose bracket, and allow the fluid to drain.

    • 12mm flare nut crowfoot socket
  7. Remove the nut that attaches the LH front jounce bracket to the vehicle, and then remove the LH front flexible brake hose from the vehicle.

    • 10 mm 12pt deep socket

Install

  1. Position the LH front flexible brake hose into the vehicle, and then install the nut that attaches the LH front jounce bracket to the vehicle.
    6 Nm (4.4 lbs-ft)

    • 10 mm 12pt deep socket
  2. Insert the brake line into the brake hose at the jounce hose bracket, and then use a crowfoot extension to install the brake line tube nut into the brake hose.
    16 Nm (11.8 lbs-ft)

  3. Install the brake hose to the brake caliper.
    42 Nm (31.0 lbs-ft)

    The bolt and washers are captive in the new hose assembly.

  4. Remove the oil drain from under the vehicle.
  5. Install the brake hose to the front LH knuckle, and then install the bolt that attaches the brake hose bracket to the knuckle.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)

  6. Bleed the brake caliper for the brake hose that was serviced. See #GUID-242044A0-A455-4E05-A408-E9702C8BB268.
  7. Install the front LH wheel. See #GUID-0B862D15-7178-4435-AEF2-0B40B8BEE686.
  8. Install the rear underhood apron. See .
  9. Perform a road test and the brake pad burnishing procedure to ensure proper brake pedal feeling and performance. See .
