Installing Mud Flaps

You can purchase mud flaps for your vehicle on the Tesla Shop. Perform the following to install the front and rear mud flaps.

Front Mud Flaps

The procedure and illustrations detail how to install the front left mud flap. Instructions for the right side are mirrored.
  1. Set your vehicle's ride height to High.
  2. Open the driver's side (left) front door.
  3. Turn the steering wheel fully to the left to provide access to the working area.
  4. Locate the push clips (x2) on the front wheel arch liner and remove them using a flat, non-marring tool.
  5. Position the mud flap flush onto the wheel arch liner, then secure the push clips (x2), starting from right to left.
  6. Install the provided bolts (x2) that secure the bottom of the mud flap to the rocker panel cover. Tighten the bolts to 1.8 Nm (1.3 ft-lb).
  7. Perform this procedure again on the right side of the vehicle to install the right mud flap.

Rear Mud Flaps

  1. Set your vehicle's ride height to High.
  2. Open the Driver's side (left) door.
  3. Turn the steering wheel fully to the left to provide access to the working area.
  4. Remove the push clips (x3) on the rear wheel arch liner.
  5. Remove the M6 bolt located under the rear wheel liner.
  6. Carefully peel the wheel liner away and install the U-nuts (x3).
  7. Tuck the wheel liner back behind the rocker panel, ensuring it is tucked underneath the rocker panel cover.
  8. Position the mud flap onto the rear wheel liner and install the bolts (x3) that secure the bottom of the mud flap to the rocker panel cover. Tighten the bolts to 2.2 Nm (1.6 ft-lb).
  9. Install the M6 bolt on the bottom of the rocker panel. Tighten the bolt to 2.2 Nm (1.6 ft-lb).
  10. Perform this procedure again on the right side of the vehicle to install the right mud flap.
