NVH Insulator - Floor - Rear Trunk (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Using the MCU, open the hood and trunk
  2. Prepare the vehicle for lifting. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  3. Disconnect LV power. See Disconnect 12V Power.
  4. Remove rear aero shield clips
    Note
    7x push clips, *Use this step for Model S Refresh procedures
  5. Remove rear aero shield bolts
    Note
    7x bolts, 10mm, 4 Nm
  6. Remove rear aero shield from vehicle
  7. Remove fasteners securing rear valance to vehicle on RH side
    Note
    2x bolts, 1x nut, 10mm, 4 Nm
  8. Disconnect subframe harnesses connectors and release clip
    Note
    3x connectors, 1x clip
  9. Disconnect rear fascia RKE antenna connector
    Note
    1x
  10. Release rear fascia RKE antenna harness from body
    Note
    4x clips
  11. Push RH body grommet through the body and route the harness inside the cabin
    Note
    1x grommet
  12. Lower vehicle until tires are touching ground
  13. Fold 2nd row seatbacks down
  14. Remove parcel shelf
  15. Remove trunk load floor
  16. Remove trunk sill panel
    Note
    4x clips, 4x guides
  17. Remove RH rear C-pillar
    Note
    1x screw, T25, 3 Nm, 4x clips
  18. Remove RH trunk side garnish trim
    Note
    2x clips, 1x guide
  19. Remove RH upper C-pillar trim
    Note
    4x clips
  20. Remove RH trunk side trim panel
    Note
    1x clip
  21. Disconnect subwoofer speaker
    Note
    1x connector , Release from speaker housing lock
  22. Remove subwoofer speaker
    Note
    3x bolts, 10mm, 5 Nm, Lift up and rotate
  23. Remove LH rear C-pillar trim
    Note
    1x screw, T25, 3 Nm, 4x clips
  24. Remove LH trunk side garnish trim
    Note
    2x clips, 1x guide
  25. Remove trunk floor carpet
    Note
    8x fir tree clips
  26. Remove trunk trim rear wall
    Note
    3x fir tree clips
  27. Remove trunk trim rear footwell
    Note
    Fold sides in then pull up
  28. Pull RH body harness through body
    Note
    Pull body harness out of body hole and move out of the way
  29. Remove rear trunk absorber
    Note
    Fold sides in then pull out

Install

  1. Install rear trunk absorber
    Note
    Push down and tuck both sides under trunk side trim panel
  2. Feed the RH body harness through the body in the trunk floor
  3. Raise vehicle fully, lower lift onto locks
    Note
    Set vehicle to comfortable working height, Make sure there's an audible click of locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise vehicle may tilt to side
  4. Pull RH body harness grommet through the body making sure the grommet is fully seated and secure
    Note
    1x grommet
  5. Install rear fascia RKE antenna connector
    Note
    1x connector
  6. Install rear fascia RKE antenna harness to the body
    Note
    4x clips
  7. Connect subframe harness connectors
    Note
    3x connectors, 1x clip
  8. Secure rear valance to vehicle
    Note
    2x bolts, 1x nut, 10mm, 4 Nm
  9. Position rear aero shield to vehicle and install bolts
    Note
    7x bolts, 10mm, 4 Nm
  10. Install rear aero shield clips
    Note
    7x push clips
  11. Lower vehicle and remove from lift
    Note
    Raise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered, Remove air suspension from "Jack Mode" if equipped
  12. Install trunk trim rear footwell
  13. Install subwoofer speaker
    Note
    3x bolts, 10mm, 5 Nm
  14. Connect subwoofer speaker
    Note
    1x connector, secure connector into speaker housing lock
  15. Install trunk trim rear wall
    Note
    3x fir tree clips
  16. Install trunk floor carpet
    Note
    8x fir tree clips
  17. Install RH trunk side trim panel
    Note
    1x clip
  18. Install RH trunk side garnish trim
    Note
    2x clips
  19. Install LH trunk side garnish trim
    Note
    2x clips
  20. Install RH upper C-pillar trim
    Note
    4x clips
  21. Install RH rear C-pillar trim
    Note
    1x screw, T25, 3 Nm, 4x clips
  22. Install LH rear C-pillar trim
    Note
    1x screw, T25, 3 Nm, 4x clips
  23. Install trunk sill panel
    Note
    4x clips, 4x guides
  24. Install trunk load floor
  25. Install parcel shelf
  26. Raise 2nd row seatbacks up
    Note
    Remove seat protection if used
  27. Connect LV power. See Disconnect 12V Power.
