Glass - Body - Rear Quarter - LH (Remove and Install)

CAUTION
For Europe only: Only technicians who have been trained in working with diisocyanates and have completed all required certification courses are permitted to perform procedures using urethane and other products containing diisocyanates. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn when working with products containing diisocyanates.

Remove

  1. Open the LH rear door.
  2. Fully lower the LH rear window.
  3. Open the trunk.
  4. Release the clip that attaches the rear primary seal to the C-pillar using a clip prytool.
  5. Pull the LH rear primary seal from the rear quarter glass area by pulling towards the front of the vehicle.
  6. Remove the LH 2nd row seat side bolster. See Bolster - Side - Seat - 2nd Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
  7. Remove the LH side rail trim. See #GUID-F8003271-ED02-4716-8E29-52A5BB1AE1BA.
  8. Remove the LH upper C-pillar trim. See #GUID-CA7062E0-67B6-4F6E-8E04-41149EBDB913.
  9. Remove the upper brightwork. See Brightwork - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace).
  10. Break the locating posts on the interior side of the LH rear quarter body glass using diagonal cutters and a flat head screwdriver to assist with the removal of the glass.
  11. Clean the exterior area of the LH rear quarter body glass.
  12. Apply masking tape to the rear around the LH rear quarter body glass to protect the body and paint.
  13. Apply masking tape onto the interior of the LH rear quarter glass, the exterior of the quarter assembly and body, and then mark the current position on the exterior tape to aid in installation.

    CAUTION
    Make sure the tape covers the interior edges and areas that may come into contact with the square wire to avoid damage.
  14. Set up a pair of T-handles with square wire 6 feet long.
  15. Wrap the square wire around the rear edge of the LH rear quarter body glass between the body the seal.
  16. Cut the LH rear quarter body glass from the body, and then remove glass from the vehicle.

    Use a sawing motion to cut through the urethane.
  17. Clean the remaining urethane from the body using a winged scraper set.
  18. Clean the body around the urethane path with an isopropyl alcohol (IPA) wipe. Allow the area to dry for at least 1 minute.
  19. Clean the remaining urethane from the LH rear quarter glass using a plastic trim tool.
  20. Clean the LH rear quarter glass around the urethane path with an isopropyl alcohol (IPA) wipe. Allow the area to dry for at least 1 minute.

Install

  1. Apply primer to the urethane path and any areas where the paint was damaged during the removal of the LH rear quarter body glass. Allow primer to dry for at least 1 minute before continuing.
  2. Apply primer to the LH rear quarter glass. Allow the primer to dry for at least 1 minute.
  3. Prepare the caulking gun and urethane.

    Note
    The urethane opening must be 7 mm wide and 12 mm tall.
  4. Apply urethane to the body following the original path.
  5. Position the LH rear quarter body glass over the vehicle and slide the rear quarter brightwork clip into the upper brightwork.

    Start from the rear locating post will help with the fitment of the rear quarter brightwork to the body.

    Note
    Align the quarter glass assembly with the previously created marks on the masking tape from the body.
  6. Secure the LH rear quarter body glass with tape while the urethane is curing.
  7. Fully seat the LH rear primary seal.
  8. Secure the clip at the C-pillar.
  9. Install the upper brightwork. See Brightwork - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace).
  10. Install the LH upper C-pillar trim. See #GUID-CA7062E0-67B6-4F6E-8E04-41149EBDB913.
  11. Install the LH side rail trim. See #GUID-F8003271-ED02-4716-8E29-52A5BB1AE1BA.
  12. Install the LH 2nd row seat side bolster. See Bolster - Side - Seat - 2nd Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
  13. Close the LH rear door.
  14. Remove the masking tape after the urethane has cured.

    CAUTION
    Non guidare il veicolo finché non è trascorso il tempo di attesa minimo raccomandato dal produttore dell'adesivo. Dow Betaseal Express richiede un tempo di attesa di almeno 1 ora a temperature pari a 0˚F (-18˚C) o superiori. Se necessario, lasciare il nastro esercitando pressione sul cristallo del veicolo e avvisare il cliente che può rimuoverlo dopo 24 ore. Inoltre, avvisare il cliente di evitare velocità di guida elevate e dossi rallentatori per le successive 24 ore.
