Brake Caliper - Rear - LH

    Remove


  1. Raise and support vehicle.
  2. WARNING: Do not work on an incorrectly supported vehicle.
     


  3. Remove road wheel (torque - 105 Nm).

  4. Disconnect parking brake inner cable from caliper lever.

  5. Release cable rubber seal and disconnect parking brake outer cable from caliper.

  6. Loosen brake hose in caliper (torque - 22 Nm).
  7. CAUTION: Do not clamp the brake hoses as they will be damaged and require replacing.
     

    CAUTION: Ensure brake hose is aligned correctly with no excessive twist or bends.
     

    NOTE: Place suitable absorbent material around the affected area to absorb any possible fluid spillage.


  8. Release brake pad retaining pin from clip.

  9. Release brake hose clip from track control arm.

  10. Remove upper bolt securing caliper to upright (torque - 45 Nm).
  11. NOTE: When installing, apply Loctite® 680™ retaining compound to bolt/screw threads.


  12. Remove lower bolt securing caliper to upright and release caliper (torque - 25 Nm).
  13. NOTE: When installing, apply Loctite® 680™ retaining compound to bolt/screw threads.


  14. Remove pad retaining pin and collect pads and anti-rattle spring.
  15. NOTE: Always record quantity and fitted position of shims, washers, locktabs or clips.


  16. Unscrew caliper from brake hose and remove caliper. Cap hose to prevent excess fluid loss.
  17. CAUTION: Plug pipe connections to prevent ingress of moisture or dirt.
     

    CAUTION: If brake fluid is spilt on the paintwork wash off immediately with clean water.
     

    Installation


  1. Installation procedure is reverse of removal except for the following.

  2. Clean and lubricate pads using suitable lubricant prior to installing to new caliper.

  3. Bleed brakes.
  4. WARNING: Always check that brake pads are seated correctly before driving the vehicle.
     


  5. Check parking brake adjustment.
