Enclosure Leak Test

FRT No: 16020403

    Set-Up

  1. Ensure all fastenings are fitted and tightened and have torque markings except for the LH and RH upper screws.

  2. Ensure that boot seals are correctly fitted and that clamps are secure.

  3. Ensure that all electrical connectors are covered to prevent moisture ingress.

  4. Inspect LH and RH upper screw holes and ensure that they are free from sealant.

  5. Install leak test equipment to screw holes ensuring that new screw seals are used.

    Pressure Test

  1. Apply a regulated pressure of 0.20kPa to the enclosure.

  2. Apply leak detector fluid to all points of potential water ingress, including, but not limited to: fasteners, seals, seams, boots, covers and rivets. Rotisserie must be rotated for complete inspection, and leak detector applied to ALL potential ingress locations.
  3. CAUTION: Do not apply leak detector to exposed electrical connectors.

  4. Observe for bubbling of leak detector paying particular attention to sealing edges, screws boot seals and clamps.

    Reseal

  1. Where leaks are present around screws, replace sealing ring and re-tighten screws.

  2. Apply silicon sealant to sealing edges, rivet heads, seams where leaks are present.
  3. NOTE: Ensure that sealing surfaces and seals are completely dry before applying sealant.

  4. Allow sealant to fully cure before repeating pressure test. Repeat until no leaks are present.

  5. Re-clamp or replace any boots leaking.

  6. Remove leak testing equipment and install new screws with new screw seals to testing points (torque - 7 Nm / 62 in-lbs).

  7. Remove any excess leak detector.
