      Note
Do not leave any loads or solar in the panel upstream of Backup Switch. During system setup, the Backup Switch CTs are automatically configured as Site CTs and cannot be changed. No other CTs should be installed upstream, and no other CTs can be configured as Site. Backup Switch can only be used in whole home backup configurations.
    • If there is no disconnect, remove the utility meter as described in Remove the Meter.

  2. Install the new meter panel (Tesla P/N 1578042-00-x) per the manufacturer's instructions downstream of the utility meter as shown above.

    Note
Ensure the sealing ring is oriented such that the FRONT arrow etched into the ring faces toward Backup Switch, and not the panel. The front wall of the sealing ring is shallower than the rear wall to match the profile of the Backup Switch; thus, the sealing ring cannot be installed if it is not oriented correctly.

Tesla recommends installing a cable tie or similar locking means on the sealing ring(s) to discourage tampering with Backup Switch.
  5. Align the jumper cover (Tesla P/N 1833994-00-x / manufacturer P/N Brooks 6572250 JC-4B) with the Backup Switch, ensuring the jumper cover blades align with the Backup Switch jaws.
