LV Battery - Recover

  1. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  2. Disconnect LV battery connector and keep FRL connected

    2x connectors, Lift up and release green locking tab, Pull black connector lock outwards to release connection, Keep FRL connected
  3. Connect 12V maintainer while LV battery is connected and cycle contactors on

    1x tab, Connect 12V support while LV battery is connected, Release jump post cover behind wiper module, Place rag between multisystem beam and jump post, Prevent shorting positive cable to ground, Route positive clamp between brake fluid reservoir and wiper module, Secure positive terminal to jump post, Secure negative terminal to multisystem beam, Connect maintainer to power supply, Contactors will turn on and there will be an audible click
  4. Secure LV battery connector

    1x connector, Seat LV battery connection and push black connector lock inwards to secure, Engage upper locking tab when fully seated
  5. Open the LH front door.
  6. Lower both front windows.
  7. Activate Service Mode using the touchscreen.
  8. Remove 12V maintainer

    Remove 12V support after firmware is completed, Unplug maintainer first and then remove from posts, Return cap to positive post
  9. Navigate to Power Distribution

    Via Service UI select Low Voltage > Power Distribution
  10. Verify the status of the LV battery.

    If after 2 minutes of PCS support, alerts VCLEFT_a478_LVBMS_MOSFET_Open or VCBATT_a478_LVBMS_MOSFET_Open are present, the LV battery has not auto-recovered. Auto-recovery can be manually attempted via touchscreen or Toolbox:
    • Touchscreen:Service Mode > Low Voltage > Power Distribution > Close MOSFET
    • Toolbox: Run the ActionPROC_VCFRONT_X_RECONNECT-LV-BATTERYvia Toolbox: (link)via Service Mode: Low Voltage ➜ Power Distribution ➜ Close MOSFET

    Note
    If the steps above do not succeed in auto-recovering the LV battery, recover the battery using the Tesla Li-Ion battery charger (STILL IN DEVELOPMENT).
    • Verify that the battery is not discharging at high current and is not self-protecting.
    • Go to Service Mode > Low Voltage > Power Distribution > LV Battery and confirm that LV battery SoC is increasing.
    • Verify that the LV Battery MOSFET status is Closed.
  11. Exit Service mode

    Press and hold the Exit Service Mode button for 3 seconds
  12. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
