LV Battery - Recover
Correction code 17010008 0.12 NOTE: Unless otherwise explicitly stated in the procedure, the above correction code and FRT reflect all of the work required to perform this procedure, including the linked procedures. Do not stack correction codes unless explicitly told to do so. NOTE: See Flat Rate Times to learn more about FRTs and how they are created. To provide feedback on FRT values, email LaborTimeFeedback@tesla.com. NOTE: See Personal Protection to make sure proper PPE is worn when performing the below procedure.
- Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
-
Disconnect LV battery connector and keep FRL connected
Note2x connectors, Lift up and release green locking tab, Pull black connector lock outwards to release connection, Keep FRL connected
-
Connect 12V maintainer while LV battery is connected and cycle contactors on
Note1x tab, Connect 12V support while LV battery is connected, Release jump post cover behind wiper module, Place rag between multisystem beam and jump post, Prevent shorting positive cable to ground, Route positive clamp between brake fluid reservoir and wiper module, Secure positive terminal to jump post, Secure negative terminal to multisystem beam, Connect maintainer to power supply, Contactors will turn on and there will be an audible click
-
Secure LV battery connector
Note1x connector, Seat LV battery connection and push black connector lock inwards to secure, Engage upper locking tab when fully seated
- Open the LH front door.
- Lower both front windows.
-
Activate Service Mode using the touchscreen.
-
Remove 12V maintainer
NoteRemove 12V support after firmware is completed, Unplug maintainer first and then remove from posts, Return cap to positive post
-
Navigate to Power Distribution
NoteVia Service UI select Low Voltage > Power Distribution
-
Verify the status of the LV battery.
NoteIf after 2 minutes of PCS support, alerts VCLEFT_a478_LVBMS_MOSFET_Open or VCBATT_a478_LVBMS_MOSFET_Open are present, the LV battery has not auto-recovered. Auto-recovery can be manually attempted via touchscreen or Toolbox:
- Touchscreen:
- Toolbox: Run the ActionPROC_VCFRONT_X_RECONNECT-LV-BATTERYSearch for routine in ToolboxLVBMS Reconnect LV BatteryLow Voltage / Power Distribution - Close MOSFET
NoteIf the steps above do not succeed in auto-recovering the LV battery, recover the battery using the Tesla Li-Ion battery charger (STILL IN DEVELOPMENT).- Verify that the battery is not discharging at high current and is not self-protecting.
- Go to Service Mode > Low Voltage > Power Distribution > LV Battery and confirm that LV battery SoC is increasing.
- Verify that the LV Battery MOSFET status is Closed.
-
Exit Service mode
NotePress and hold the Exit Service Mode button for 3 seconds
- Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
