  • 2023-08-14: Added a note about vacuum refill requirement when the coolant loss is greater than 1L.
  • 2024-11-27: Add some steps when replacing with the new hose.

Remove

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  2. Open the LH front door and fully lower the LH front window.
  3. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  4. Disconnect 12V power. See 12V/LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  5. Remove the fresh intake duct. See Duct - Fresh Intake (Remove and Replace).
  6. Remove the front aero shield panel. See Panel - Aero Shield - Front (Remove and Replace).
  7. Remove the bolt and clips that attach the LH front wheel liner to the HV battery and lower wheel well area. Repeat this step for the RH side of the vehicle.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
  8. Install bungee straps to pull the LH and RH front wheel arch liners away from the HV battery and expose the coolant hoses.
Figure 1. LH shown; RH similar
  9. Remove the front HV battery skid plate. See Skid Plate - HV Battery - Front (Remove and Replace).
  10. Position a coolant drain container underneath the HV battery manifold hose.
  11. Release the clip and disconnect the LH outer HV battery supply hose fitting from the LH front of the HV battery platter enclosure.
  12. Release the clip that connects the chiller to HV battery hose to the HV battery supply manifold, disconnect the hose, and then plug the male and female fittings.
  13. Release the clip and disconnect the LH inner HV battery supply hose fitting from the LH front of the HV battery platter enclosure.
  14. Remove the spring clip, disconnect LH manifold tube from the RH manifold tube, and then immediately plug the male and female fittings.

Install

  1. Perform below retrofit steps for new coolant pass through hose.
    1. Position front manifold coolant hose onto HV battery.
